Gifts Made In Memory
Since its inception in 2016, the Foundation has received many donations in memory of individuals who made a lasting impact in our community.
Thaddeus Spratlen and Lois Price Spratlen
Most importantly, our organization is named in honor of Lois Price Spratlen (d. 2012). Our scholarship program builds upon her commitment to education, her pursuit of social justice, and her determination to challenge our perceived limitations.
Dr. Price Spratlen’s husband, Thaddeus Spratlen (d. 2021), was a key figure in the establishment of the Lois Price Spratlen Foundation. His guidance and advice were crucial to the level of scholarships we are able to provide for students today.

Trudi Levi (d. 2016) was an accomplished psychiatric nurse practitioner and early member of the Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses.
Donna Poole (d. 2024) tirelessly served to represent the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner profession and to increase the stature and visibility of ARNPs in Washington State.
Mary Ann Nihart (d. 2025) was a transformative leader and educator whose dedication to the field of psychiatric-mental health nursing inspired countless professionals to pursue careers in the field.

Charles Huffine (d. 2025) was a respected ally to the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner profession, and along with his wife, Connie Huffine, was a major donor to the Foundation.
A psychiatrist, he was in private practice specializing in adolescent and young adults for more than 40 years. One of his patients even named her black cat “Charley,” for he loved black cats.
