Lois Price Spratlen Scholarship
The Lois Price Spratlen Foundation invites graduate students in psychiatric mental health nursing to apply for the Lois Price Spratlen Scholarship. The Foundation will award scholarships of $2,500 in the Fall of 2026.
The purpose of the scholarship program is to support graduate students pursuing a career in advanced practice psychiatric nursing.
Scholarships are funded by donations from our colleagues in the nursing and mental health community, Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses (AAPPN) members, and community members interested in improving psychiatric mental health nursing in our state.
In addition to the monetary award, Lois Price Spratlen Scholars will receive:
A free one-year Student membership in AAPPN.
A free registration for the AAPPN 2026 Annual Conference, to be held October 10, 2026, at the Lynnwood Event Center. Scholars are also invited to attend the Scholarship & Awards Breakfast, co-hosted by Lois Price Spratlen Foundation and AAPPN, prior to the conference.
The application deadline is June 30, 2026.
General Information
All application information will be held in strict confidence.
The Lois Price Spratlen Foundation will select scholarship recipients.
This scholarship is a one-time award.
New recipients will be selected annually.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by email.
Scholarship money will be distributed no later than November 1, 2026.
The Foundation reserves the right to alter distribution of scholarships depending on applications received.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a psychiatric mental health nursing graduate program during the 2026-27 academic year (Fall-Summer) either:
In Washington State, or
In a distance-learning institution which has Washington DOH-approved clinical site placements for out-of-state nursing programs. Applicants enrolled in a distance-learning institution must also be a resident of Washington State.
Applicants do not have to be enrolled for the entire year.
Applicants do not need to have completed their first clinical practicum rotation in their PMHNP specialty courses.
Application Requirements
The scholarship application consists of the online form with four attachments: (1) a personal statement, (2) a current résumé, (3) a letter confirming enrollment for the 2026-207 academic year, and (4) a letter of recommendation.
All application attachments must be in PDF format.
All applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2026.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Materials submitted beyond those listed below will not be taken into consideration.

Letter of Recommendation
If the applicant has completed some program coursework, the letter should be from a faculty member in the program.
If the applicant has not begun a program, your letter may be from a current or past employer or past faculty member outside your program. The letter-writer must have worked with the applicant within the past six months.
